Because .Tel is a brand new TLD currently it isn’t as straightforward as registering your .com or .net domain, we will attempt at breaking this down step by step below.

The release schedule for .Tel domains are as follows:

Start: Wednesday 3rd December 2008 15:00 GMT
End: Monday 2nd February 2009 23:59 GMT
Landrush
Start: Tuesday 3rd February 2009 15:00 GMT
End: Monday 23rd March 2009 23:59 GMT
Open registration
Start: Tuesday 24th March 2009 15:00 GMT

Sunrise (Trademark Owner)

Sunrise for .Tel started Wednesday 3rd December 2008 3pm. Sunrise is the introductory period where trademark owners can claim their .Tel domain and to deter abusive, such as people bulk buying trademarked names, such as Apple.tel and Microsoft.tel

Trademark owners are welcome to register their trademark .Tel and should note:

  • Application date for trademarks should before 30th May 2008
  • If there are more than one valid applicant for a .Tel domain it will be processed in a “First come, first served” basis.
  • The minimum registration period is 3 years

Landrush:

  • Anyone is able to apply for a domain
  • The minimum registration period is 3 years
  • If there are more than one valid applicant for a .Tel domain it will be processed in a “First come, first served” basis.
